Pixflow Design vs legacy web workflow
Pixflow Design is the default workflow for new WordPress sites.
The legacy web-based workflow is still supported, but it should be treated as a manual fallback or compatibility path.
Use Pixflow Design when
Section titled “Use Pixflow Design when”- you are starting a new site
- you want Pixflow inside WordPress and Bricks
- you want the workspace, floating panel, resource packs, templates, Bricks skills, icon sets, and AI workflows
- you want each site to keep its own framework setup
- you want Local CLI providers through the bridge
- you want less manual copying, importing, and setup checking
Pixflow Design is site-based. Each WordPress site has its own resource pack status, projects, workspace state, framework route, mapping setup, provider selection, and generation settings.
Use the legacy web workflow when
Section titled “Use the legacy web workflow when”- you intentionally want to copy from the Pixflow website
- you want to choose a framework output before copying
- you are using an older Pixflow workflow
- you want a manual copy-and-paste path without the plugin
- you are comfortable checking imports, variables, classes, and framework setup yourself
Practical difference
Section titled “Practical difference”With Pixflow Design:
- Install and activate Pixflow Design on the site.
- Install required resource packs.
- Install the Local CLI Bridge if you want Local CLI providers.
- Allow browser access to the bridge.
- Use Pixflow inside Bricks.
With the legacy web workflow:
- Open the Pixflow website.
- Choose the framework output.
- Copy a layout or component.
- Paste it into Bricks.
- Manually import Pixflow Framework files if that framework target was selected.
- Manually set up custom mapping first if you are using a custom mapped target.
- Check the result on the destination site.
Important boundaries
Section titled “Important boundaries”- Pixflow Design mappings do not automatically apply to web-based copies.
- Web-based mapping only happens at copy time.
- The legacy web workflow is copy-and-paste only.
- Web-based custom mapping can only be set up once for that workflow.
- Pixflow Design custom mapping can be set and changed later from inside the site.
- The workspace, Local CLI bridge, resource packs, projects, AI workflows, design systems, icon set builder, and settings pages are Pixflow Design features, not website copy features.
Recommendation
Section titled “Recommendation”Use Pixflow Design unless you have a specific reason to stay in the older web workflow.
Continue to Manual workflow if you want the legacy route.
