Copy-time mapping

Copy-time mapping lets you use Pixflow layouts without adopting the Pixflow Framework.

Pixflow layouts are authored with Pixflow variables. When you copy from the Pixflow website with a mapped framework selected, Pixflow rewrites those variables before the output reaches your clipboard.

  1. Choose a framework target on the Pixflow website.
  2. Copy a layout or component.
  3. Pixflow reads the original Bricks JSON.
  4. Pixflow rewrites variables to match the selected target.
  5. The rewritten JSON is copied to your clipboard.
  6. Paste it into Bricks on the destination site.

Mapping happens only at the moment you copy.

Custom mapping can still be used with the web-based copy workflow, but it is a one-time setup.

Use it only when:

  • the destination site already has the framework or custom variable system ready
  • the mapping has been configured before you copy
  • you do not need to keep changing the mapping during the project

For ongoing mapping changes, use the Pixflow plugin. Plugin mapping is stored on the WordPress site and can be updated later.

The legacy web workflow supports these mapped targets:

The Pixflow Framework target is not considered mapping. It keeps Pixflow variables and requires Pixflow Framework files on the destination site.

  • changes copied output to use the selected framework’s variables
  • helps pasted layouts fit an existing site setup
  • avoids importing Pixflow Framework styles when another framework is already in use
  • keeps Pixflow’s source layouts unchanged

Mapping does not:

  • install variables, classes, or colours on the destination site
  • configure ACSS, Advanced Themer, or Core Framework
  • create a saved site mapping in the plugin
  • behave like the plugin’s editable site mapping
  • keep pasted layouts synced with Pixflow
  • update an item that was already pasted

Use mapping when the destination framework is already installed and working.

If the copied layout looks wrong after paste, first check that you selected the right framework target and that the target framework exists on the destination site.
